This aluminum and steel mosaic sculpture is a symbol of rebirth.
The Eastside Community Center where it is located was built to bring about a rebirth to the Eastside Community.
The community center was the dream of a young man who was murdered nearby. His mother made it her cause to build the center after his death.
This concrete, aluminum and glass mosaic monolith is the beautiful art guardian at Luuwit View Park in Portland, Oregon. It sits atop a small hill reached via a spiral path. From this vantage point one can see the Columbia River, Mt Hood, and Mt. St. Helens (Luuwit). "Firebird's" eyes light up at night.
